The Long Night of the Biennial.

September 24th, 2008

We’re working really hard to get the gallery website up and running within the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, here’s some information about what we’ll be up to on the Long Night of the Biennial (a fantastic city-wide event in which most of the galleries in Liverpool will be open late). The Long Night takes place just prior to the opening of our Biennial show, There in Time, so we asked exhibiting artist Tamarin Norwood to come up with a fun, one-off event.

THE LONG NIGHT AT THE BRIDEWELL

Seen any artwork that’s made you laugh, cry or pause for thought this year in Liverpool? Is the Capital of Culture award making a difference - or are you wondering what all the fuss is about?

Throughout the Biennial Long Night, the Bridewell Gallery is inviting the public to have their say. All the comments, critiques, suggestions and thoughts recorded over the evening will be woven together by artist Tamarin Norwood into a continuous fabric of spoken sound, to make a spontaneous community review of art in Liverpool 2008. The work will be available to download as a free podcast from the Bridewell Gallery website and Art in Liverpool FM.

To have your say, just turn up between 6pm and 11pm on Thursday 30 October and speak your mind.

In addition, Bridewell Studios artist Karen Edwards will open her welcoming studio space to the public, providing an opportunity to see some of what goes on ‘behind the scenes’ of this fascinating building.

Refreshments will be provided, and the Gallery’s infamous roaring log fire will keep us all warm.

Wheelchair access available via. Harper Street entrance.
